About BiznisAfrica

A directory of African companies — listed and major private and state-owned firms — with their exchange, sector, country, headquarters, key figures and branch footprint.

BiznisAfrica brings together structured facts about companies across the continent: where they are headquartered, when they were founded, which sector they work in, who owns them, where their shares are listed (exchange, ticker, ISIN) and, where published, staff numbers, revenue and assets.

Exchange pages combine the facts about each stock exchange with World Bank market indicators for its country: the number of listed domestic companies, market capitalisation and trading activity, year by year.

Company facts come from Wikidata and are refreshed regularly. Coverage is uneven — South Africa, Nigeria and Egypt are far better documented than smaller markets — so the directory is a starting point, not a complete register. Nothing here is investment advice.

Branch footprints and the largest chains by country come from business listings compiled from public map and web sources, checked in October 2026: how many trading locations a brand has in each country and in how many towns. A company gets a footprint only when its name and home market match a listed brand and the kind of locations fits its industry (bank branches and ATMs for a bank, filling stations for a fuel retailer). Closed locations are not counted.

Company logos come from Wikimedia Commons; the author and licence of each file are shown on the company page and on the image credits page.
